The historic centre of Vienna was first formed by early Roman and Celtic settlements, which then turned into a thriving city that was the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It’s importance in Europe centered on music, among other things. Made up of three kilometers, the historic area has grandiose architecture with its Baroque castles and beautiful gardens, along with a number of great monuments and parks that line the Ringstrasse.
