China Danxia refers to the landscapes in China that appear red. These red landscapes include cliffs, waterfalls, natural towers, and other beautiful areas. Mostly in the southern part of China, the China Danxia has helped save forests and provides areas for life of many different flora.
The red comes from the landscapes developing on top of red beds of the earth that have been influenced by different factors, such as erosion and weather.
There are 6 areas with Danxia landforms that are very popular in China. Also, there are other China Danxia landforms located throughout the country for those who love to see these spectacular red landscapes.
Danxia Mountain, located in the Guangdong Province, is one of the most popular Danxia landforms. This mountain used to be a large basin over 7,000 years ago. Because of water erosion, the red-bedded basin cut into the Redstone Hills, which became the Danxia Mountains, giving the mountains a red color.
There are numerous scenic areas throughout this park, including the Xianglong Lake resort and the Yangyuan Mountain Scenic Area.
Wuyi Mountain has a comfortable climate that makes it enjoyable to visit throughout the year. There are many interesting attractions to see in these mountains, such as the cliff coffins. These coffins were put in cavities made in the side of the rock high up near the top of the mountain.
The Great King Peak is a great hiking spot for those who are brave enough to climb up the side of the mountain by ladders.
Dajin Lake is considered to have the most varied landscape in the world. This park filled with Danxia landforms is full of great sights to explore, including granite and volcanic areas. There are a number of caves throughout, along with 70 temples that were built inside of the caves in the hills.
Mount Longhu features Danxia landforms with it’s red cliffs, peaks, pools, and other scenic areas. Luxi River runs through Mount Longhu linking up many of the scenic areas with the mountain, such as the Shangqing Palace, the Fairy Water Cliff, and the Tianshi Mansion. Zhenxian Temple, located in the mountains here, was built thousands of years ago in 950 and is a great attraction to visit.
